RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Former University of Colorado golfer Alexis Keating shot a 3-over par, 291 here during Stage I of LPGA Qualifying school and has advanced to Stage II on her journey to become a member of the LPGA.

Keating, a four-year letterwinner, who graduated this past May with a degree in communications finished the 72-hole tournament tied for 46th place, well ahead of the cut line. The top 90 and ties advanced to the second stage of qualifying.

Over the four-day tournament, Keating tallied 53 pars and 9 birdies against only 9 bogeys and 1 double-bogey. Keating started the tournament playing 18 holes on the Gary Player Course where she shot a 2-under par, 70 on the par-72 layout. On the second day of competition, the Elma, Wash. native finished the Dinah Shore Course at 2-over par, which put her at even-par for event at the halfway point.

Keating's most difficult round came on the third day when she carded a 4-over par 76 on the Arnold Palmer Course. She struggled a bit on the back nine, shooting plus-three down the stretch, however she remained in solid position at 4-over par heading into the final round. Keating closed out Stage I on the Dinah Shore Course for a second time, posting a 1-under par 71 to wrap-up the event at 3-over. She turned in a solid final round, playing all 18 holes even-par or better as the former CU standout pared 17 holes and made one birdie.

Jamie Oleksiew, also a 2016 CU graduate, shot 23-over par after 54 holes and missed the cut.

After reaching Symetra Tour status for 2017 with a solid performance during Stage I, Keating will now turn her attention to Stage II of LPGA qualifying, which will take place Thursday, Oct. 20 – Sunday, Oct. 23 at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla. Keating will be one of at least three former Buffaloes set to compete in the tournament. Her former teammates, Jenny and Kristin Coleman will also be playing in Stage II.
