AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Colorado track and field team dominated the 400 meter hurdles here Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium. The Buffaloes placed six athletes in the top-15 on both sides in a very competitive field.

 WHAT HAPPENED
On the men's side, the Buffs took four of the top-10 spots as Jaron Thomas led the way winning the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.61. Trenton Stringari ran a solid race finishing in third with a 52.00 time while Isaiah Kaiser clocked a PR time of 52.84. Kodie Artner rounded out the Buffs in the top-10 of the 400 meter hurdles crossing the finish line 10th with a time of 53.03.

For the women, freshman Eriana Henderson paced CU finishing the race in 1:00.43 to finish in fifth overall, her fourth top-5 finish this season. Gabby Scott placed 12th with a time of 1:01.42 to wrap up the Buffs impressive day for the hurdlers.

Rajon O'Quinn had a very strong day as she tied for first place in the high jump with a PR mark of 5-10/1.78. Her mark is now tied for fifth all-time for CU coming in behind Kelsey English (5-11.25).

The Buffs saw success in the 400 meters placing three in the top-15. In his 400 meters, outdoor debut, sophomore Trenton Stringari crossed the finish line in 48.24 seconds to finish in eighth place overall. On the women's side, Gabby Scott just barley clocked a PR time of 54.63 to finish in sixth place. Teammate Alexandria Peters came in 13th with a time of 55.79.

The Colorado throwers were also in California at the Santa Barbara Easter Open, where multiple athletes took home first place. The Buffs dominated the hammer throw taking home both event titles. Elisa Grandemange won the women's hammer with a 166-6/50.75 mark while Matthew Denton on the men's side claimed the title with a 158-5/48.28 mark. Aaron Haigler won the shot put tossing a 49-10.5/15.20 mark.

UP NEXT: The team is split between two different locations next week as the distance crew will hit the road and compete at the Cardinal Invitational at Stanford, Calif, while the rest of the team will head to Fort Collins for the Christiansen Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo.

QUOTABLE (Head Coach Mark Wetmore)
"I think the performance of the weekend was Isaiah's Decathlon...a very big personal best, and a mark that might finish very high in the conference in a month. He is a very big talent. Rajon jumped well. I think she tied her best and certainly qualified for the NCAA first round. The 400 hurdles were solid again, and some emerging distance runners got marks that may get them to the Conference. We go to Stanford next week for a smaller, simpler meet…. maybe some more useful performances."
