Grandemange Wins Weight Throw at Mines Classic

GOLDEN, COLO. - University of Colorado junior Elisa Grandemange took home the weight throw event title here Friday night at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight Classic.
WHAT HAPPENED
Elisa Grandemange won her first event title of the 2018 season Friday. Grandemange won the weight throw with a mark of 53-6.5/16.32. Her 2018 season PR came last weekend at the Potts Invitational where the junior tossed a 54-3.25/16.54 mark. Teammate Mariah Walker finished right behind Grandemange in second with a mark of 50-6/15.39.
Freshman Gunner Rigsby is making a splash in his freshman campaign. The Colorado native, finished second in the long jump with a solid mark of 23-4.75/7.13. His PR in the event came at the first event of his freshman year back in December at the Mines Alumni Classic and Multi where he landed an impressive 24-0.25/7.32. Andrew Ghizzone finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 22-11.25/6.99, Ghizzone's PR for the season.
UP NEXT
The Buffs close out the Mines Twilight Open tomorrow, Saturday January 20 in Steinhauer Fieldhouse. Field events start at 10:00 am with the men's shot put and track events start at 11:30 am with the 60 meter hurdles.
