Maas, O’Quinn Pace Buffs on First Day of Air Force Invite

USAFA, Colo. - The University of Colorado track and field team enjoyed success on the first day of the Air Force Invite here Friday night at the Air Force Invitational. Freshman Jon Maas and Rajon O'Quinn paced the Buffs advancing in both the 60 and 200 meters.
WHAT HAPPENED: QUALIFICATION ROUND ON THE TRACK
Freshman Jon Maas is settling into his freshman season strong with an eighth place finish in the 60 meters. Maas crossed the finish line in 6.98 seconds, which marks the fastest time for a Buff in the 60 meters this season. Jaysean Skrine previously owned the fastest 2018 time with a a 7.02 at the Potts Invitational. Maas and Skrine will compete in the 60 meters Semi-Final at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday with the finals head starting at 2:55.
On the women's side of the 60 meters, two Buffs qualified for Saturday's Semi-Final. Rajon O'Quinn finished third with a time of 7.51 while Tashay Brown finished 10th coming in at 7.84.
Jon Maas and Rajon O'Quinn also advanced to the 200 meter finals event on Saturday. Mass qualified by clocking a PR time of 21.78 to finish fifth and advance. The finals heat will begin at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday. O'Quinn's first place performance of 24.28 qualified her for the semifinals. Teammate Tashay Brown also qualified in the 200 meters with a 25.11 time.
In the 60 meter hurdles a duo of Buffs advanced to the finals heat which will start at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday. Alexander Billing finished ninth with a time of 8.16 while Andrew Ghizzone snuck in at 14th place with a time of 8.34. Eriana Henderson for the women qualified for the 60 meter hurdles finishing eighth in the event with an 8.91 time.
FIELD EVENTS
In the field, Grayson Webber tossed a PR in the weight throw of 51-6.75/15.71. On the women's side, Elisa Grandemange earned her season PR with a solid toss of 52-8.5/16.6 to finish ninth overall.
Eriana Henderson landed a impressive long jump mark of 19-3.25/5.87 to finish fifth in the women's long jump. This mark gives her a new PR in the event as well as the top mark as a Buff in the 2018 season. Hendersons' previous PR came last season at the Joe Davies Classic (19-2/5.84).
UP NEXT:
The Buffs will continue action at the Air Force Invitational on Saturday Jan. 27. Field events start at 11:30 with the men's shot put and events on the track will begin at 1:00 p.m with the 60 meter hurdles.
