Buffs Impress at Final Day of Air Force Invite

USAFA, Colo. -Ā The University of Colorado track and field team closed out the 2018 Air Force Invitational here Saturday with many strong performances both on the track and in the field.Ā
WHAT HAPPENED: Finals on the TrackĀ
Rajon O'QuinnĀ put together another solid weekend advancing to the finals in the 60 meters. In the Semi's O'Quinn clocked a 7.53 to finish third and advance. In the finals, she crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 7.56. Her Semi time of 7.53 is her fastest 60 meter time this season. In the 200 meters, O'Quinn clocked a strong time of 24.32 in the finals to finish fourth. TeammateĀ Tashay BrownĀ also ran in the finals heat finishing sixth with a time of 24.88. Ā
In the men's 60 meters,Ā Jon MaasĀ andĀ Jaysean SkrineĀ ran in the semifinals where Mass finished sixth (6.98) and Skrine (6.99) in seventh. Although Mass's time finished sixth overall he did not advance to finals as Kent Harris from Long Beach State did. Harris finished third in the first heat to automatically advance over Maas who finished fourth in his heat.Ā
Maas went on to race in the finals of the 200 meters where he finished third to earn six points for the Buffs. Mass clocked a 21.79, only .01 off his PR time from Friday (21.78).Ā
In the 60 meter hurdles,Ā Alexander BillingĀ advanced out of the semi-finals clocking a 8.07 to finish sixth and advance to the finals. In the finals heat Billing crossed the finish line right at his semi time, 8.07. Billing earned four points towards the team score.Ā
In the FieldĀ
In the women's triple jump a duo of Buffs finished in the top-five. SophomoreĀ Sarah HopkinsĀ finished third with a mark of 38-5/11.71 a PR for the season. Her career PR came at the Air Force Invitational last year where she landed a 38-11.75/11.88. FreshmanĀ Cheyenne CheshierĀ finished right behind Hopkins in fourth landing a mark of 38-2.25/11.64.Ā
Aaron HaiglerĀ eared a PR in the shot put tossing a mark 52-0.75/15.86. On the women's sideĀ Mariah WalkerĀ also earned a PR with a mark of 47-2.14.37.Ā
