Tuitele Scores Freshman of the Week Honors

The CU freshman led the team with 16.5 ppg

SAN FRANCISCO—Colorado women's basketball forward Peanut Tuitele earned her first Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor on Monday. She becomes the third Buffalo to earn the honor, joining Arielle Roberson (5x), Kennedy Leonard (1) and Annika Jank (3x).
 
Tuitele, a 6-foot-1 forward from Chico, Calif., earned her first career starts last week against Pepperdine and No. 21/20 Miami. She averaged 16.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She shot 63.6 percent (7-11) for a season-high 18 points to go with her six assists in Colorado's 80-65 win over Pepperdine on Tuesday. Tuitele was the team's top-scorer at Miami on Sunday. She went for 15 points and four rebounds in the loss. She was also a perfect (8-8) from the free-throw line for the week.
 
Colorado returns home on Thursday, kicking off a seven-game homestand against San Jose State at 7 p.m.
