BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team has signed transfer graduate student forward Anete Adler (Keila, Estonia/Audentes Sports Gymnasium) from Boston University, head coach JR Payne announced Saturday, April 18.
Selected to the All-Patriot League Second Team, All-Defensive Team, and Academic All-Patriot League Team, Adler started in 26 of her 27 appearances and led the team with career-highs of 15.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, with 48 blocks, as well as a .500 field goal percentage. She finished fifth in the Patriot League in scoring average, 10th in rebounding average, second in field goal percentage, and first in blocks. Adler recorded 21 games in double figures, eight games with 20-plus points, and two career-high 33-point outings.
"We're excited to add Anete to our program," head coach JR Payne said. "She brings a tremendous amount of experience and a strong presence in the post. She has a versatile skill set that allows her to impact the game in multiple ways, and I know that she will be a great fit here at CU."
In the 2024-25 season, she appeared in 28 games, making one start while averaging 16.1 minutes per game. Adler set career highs with 8.1 points per game on 51 percent shooting, with 89 rebounds and a team-best 29 blocks. She set a season-high 24 points on 10-of-11 shooting against American (Feb. 22), and she filled the box score with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four blocks versus Lehigh (Feb. 26). She also notched her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds at Lafayette (March 1).
The BU transfer appeared in eight games this season with five starts, averaging 17.3 minutes and 6.4 points per game. She recorded her first point as a Terrier against UMass Lowell (Nov. 6), and made her first-career start and tallied a career-high 12 rebounds against Rider (Nov. 18). Adler arrived at BU prior to the 2023-24 season as a transfer student-athlete following her freshman year at Rhode Island. The Estonia native totaled 45 minutes across 10 games for the A-10 regular season co-champions in 2022-23, making seven of her 11 shots. Adler has experience in the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship, averaging 3.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for Estonia in the 2019 Division B circuit. In 2020-21, she made 15 appearances for Estonia-NKML on Team G4S Noorteliiga, registering 10.7 points and 13.9 rebounds per game, helping her team win the championship and earning MVP honors in the final four.
Adler previously participated in the NBA Academy Program, a year-round basketball development program that provides top high school athletes from outside the U.S. with a holistic approach to player development. From July-August of 2021, she participated in the NBA Academy Women's Virtual Program, an eight-week basketball and leadership development program for more than 40 of the top female high school prospects from overseas.
