Buffs Head West For Games Against USC and Arizona State

BOULDER — The No. 23 University of Colorado lacrosse team is hitting the road for a pair of Pac-12 Conference games this weekend against 14th-ranked Southern California and Arizona State.

The Buffs will start the weekend on Friday, April 5, against USC in Los Angeles. That game is set for 3 p.m. PT/4 p.m. MT. Then on Sunday, April 7, the Buffs play Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., for a contest that is set for 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT.

ABOUT THE BUFFS: The Buffs are 5-5 overall and are 4-1 in Pac-12 Conference play. They are currently ranked 23rd in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll.

Senior Miranda Stinson leads the Pac-12 in goals (35) and is third in points (45). In conference games, she is the leader in both categories with 26 goals and 31 points. Nationally, she ranks 28th in goals and 42nd in points. She is averaging the third best NCAA mark in shots per game (9.20), as well as shots on goal per game (6.60).

Another senior, Samantha Nemirov, is second on the team with 26 goals. There are three other Buffs with at least 10 goals this season: Sadie Grozier (17), Charlie Rudy (14) and Sophie Castillo (11). Stinson is the team leader in draw controls with 35, while Eliza Cahill is second (29) and Kate Burnside is third (27).Â

Julia Lisella has started in nine games for the Buffs and has a 4-5 record on the year. She is allowing 9.67 goals against and has a .488 save percentage, which is 22nd in the NCAA. The Buffs have forced 114 opponent turnovers, which leads the Pac-12 and is 15th in the NCAA. Stinson leads the team with 15 caused turnovers, while Olivia Aschman is second with 14. Macaul Mellor is third with 11. Â Â

ABOUT THE TROJANS: USC has put together a 12-1 start this year and is currently ranked 14th in the IWLCA poll. The Trojans only loss this season came against top-ranked Boston College, a 12-9 decision. The Trojans lead the conference with a 7-0 record.

Six Trojans have posted 20 or more goals this season, including Kelsey Huff, who leads the team with 30 goals. She is tied for the team-high in points with 35 as Sophia Donovan also has 35 points (24 goals and 11 assists). Hope Anhut and Izzy McMahon each have 21 goals and Emily Concialdi and Kaeli Huff have 20 apiece. In the draw circle, Jackie Gilbert has a team-high 72 wins.

USC's defense has performed well, causing 133 opponent turnovers through 13 games. Riley Hertford has started in all 13 contests in net and owns a 12-1 mark. She has an 8.86 goals against average and a .493 save percentage.

THE SERIES: Southern California leads the all-time series 6-2 against the Buffs. In the first meeting this year on March 17, USC defeated the Buff 11-5.
