Ten Buffs Named To National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team

DENVER—A total of 10 members of the University of Colorado ski team were named to the 2019 National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team, announced Wednesday by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association.

To be honored on the team, a skier must possess a cumulative 3.5 grade point average and have participated at the 2019 NCAA Western Regional, held in Alaska in February. Nationally, a total of 283 student-athletes from 28 different schools were named to the team.

Seniors Nora Christensen (Architectural Engineering) and Max Luukko (Finance) earned their fourth career honor, having maintained above a 3.5 grade point average their entire academic career in Boulder.

Senior Christina Rolandsen (dual major Psychology and Sociology) was named to the team for the third time in her career, also having achieved the feat in 2016 and '17, and junior Andrew Potyk (Chemical and Biological Engineering) also made mention on the team for the third time in his career.

Sophomore Sondre Bollum (International Affairs) earned mention on the team for the second time in his career while five Buffs debut on the team for the first time, including sophomore Joey Young (Business) and freshmen Erik Dengerud (Applied Mathematics), Olivia Gerrard (Business), Teddy Takki (Economics) and Mikaela Tommy (Environmental Design).

This marks the seventh straight season that at least 10 CU skiers have been named to the team. All 10 of these skiers maintain above a 3.6 GPA and four of the 10 maintain above a 3.8 GPA, including one perfect 4.0. Six of the 10 made up half of the contingent that represented CU at the 2019 NCAA Championships last month in Stowe, Vt., and helped the Buffs to a third place finish. Four Buffs - Dengerud, Luukko, Rolandsen and Tommy - were also All-Americans.
