Double in Husky Classic/Tyson Invitational

BOULDER — The University of Colorado track and field team will split up between the Husky Classic at the University of Washington and the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas this Friday and Saturday.

The sprinters are heading to the Tyson Invitational while the distance squad is competing in the Husky Classic. The Buffaloes will compete in every sprint event as well as a pair of 4x400-meter relays, while the distance squad will compete in every distance event with a heavy focus on the men's 5,000-meter run.

Friday will feature the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs in Seattle starting at 3:45 p.m. MT and running through 9:10 p.m. MT. The sprinters will compete in the 60-meter dash and hurdles and the 400 on Friday. Saturday switches focuses for both groups with the 800 and miles at the Husky Classic and the 200-meter dash and 4x400 Saturday.

Both squads are looking for NCAA Indoor qualifying marks to join Ella Baran's mark in the 5,000 and Avery McMullen's score in the pentathlon, both of which are top-10 in the NCAA. Baran will join India Johnson as the two go after the 3,000-meter run qualifying, while Johnson is doubling back in the 5,000 joining Kaitlyn Barthell. Whitney Valenti is the only other CU distance woman making the trip and will compete in the mile.

The distance men are competing in the 800, 3,000 and 5,000. Seven men are competing in the 5,000 led by Charlie Sweeney and Seth Hirsch. Ethan Powell, James Overberg, Hunter Appleton, Brendan Fraser and Grady Rauba will all compete in the longest event on the track Friday. The Saturday squad includes Ryan Lindrud and Ben Greene in the 800 while Isaiah Givens, Caleb Niednagel and Charles Welch compete in the mile.

In Arkansas, Abbey Glynn leads five women in the 400. She will be joined by Emma Pollak, Grace Jenkins, Jaida Drame and Joy Moorer, with four of the five competing in the 4x4 the next day. Pollak and Moorer will also double in the 200 on Saturday along with Reese Renz who will run the 60 hurdles.

For the men, Luc Andrada and Luke Dry will be doubling up with Andrada in the 60 and 200. Dry will double in the 200 and 400 and will join Tyler Williams, James Milholen, Ian Gilmore and Garrett Nelson in the open 400. Williams, Nelson, Gilmore and Milholen are scheduled to compete in the 4x4 Saturday with none of the doubling in the 200 that day.

Arkansas' meet will be live streamed on SEC Network + and will be available to ESPN+ subscribers. The Husky Classic will be available to runnerspace plus members to stream.
