April 11, 2023 | Men's Basketball

BOULDER Eddie Lampkin, Jr., has signed a financial aid agreement to continue his education at the University of Colorado and join the men's basketball team for the 2023-24 season, head coach Tad Boyle announced on Tuesday.

Lampkin, a 6-foot-11-inch, 263-pound center from Houston, joins the Buffaloes after playing three seasons at TCU. With the extra COVID year from 2020-21, Lampkin has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

"We're excited to add a player of Eddie's caliber of talent, size and skill to our program," Boyle said. "Beyond his talent level, it's his energy and ability to be a great teammate that stood out when we recruited him."

Lampkin averaged 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds over 67 career games with the Horned Frogs. He shot 58 percent from the field with 39 total steals and 29 blocked shots.

In 2022-23, Lampkin played in 24 games with 19 starts, averaging 6.3 points and 5.9 rebounds. He was second on the team in rebounds as well as field goal shooting at 54.7 percent. Lampkin had a season-high 17 points in TCU's home win over Kansas State. He had one double-double with 16 points and a season-high 12 rebounds against Providence in the Big 12/Big East Battle series.

After playing 10 games in limited minutes as a freshman during the pandemic-affected 2020-21 season, Lampkin had a stellar sophomore campaign in 2021-22. He averaged 6.8 points and ranked ninth in the Big 12 Conference at 6.2 rebounds per game. He shot 60.6 percent from the field, a figure that ranked seventh on TCU's single-season list.

Lampkin had one of his finest games against Arizona in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. He had career-highs with 20 points and 14 rebounds in an 85-80 overtime loss to the top-seeded Wildcats. Lampkin was 8-for-9 from the field with a pair of blocked shots.

An ESPN.com four-star recruit, Lampkin was rated the No. 9 player in Texas for the class of 2020 according to TexasHoops.com. He averaged 11.6 points and 10.9 rebounds as a senior at Morton Ranch High School, leading the program to its first-ever regional tournament berth.
