
Colorado Ready for Weekend in Fort Collins and Tucson

The Colorado Track and Field Program will be at CSU and Arizona for two meets
BOULDER -- The University of Colorado's track and field program returns to action with athletes competing in two different meets simultaneously on Saturday. Some athletes will remain in Colorado to participate in the Doug Max Invitational at CSU, while a full contingent of Buffaloes will travel to the University of Arizona to take part in the Desert Heat Classic.
The Doug Max Invitational will kick off in Fort Collins at 10 a.m. MT, with Lucas Williams, Ames Newman and Isaiah Bouchard participating in the men's hammer event. Following the men's hammer, Elena Opp, Bella Braun, Obi Osafo-Mensah and Gya'ni Sami will compete in the women's hammer event.
After the conclusion of the hammer events, Meghan Whyrick will participate in the women's shot put. Williams, Newman and Bouchard will also participate in the men's discus event.
Newman and Bouchard will then compete in the men's shot put, followed by Henry Carlson, who will be the sole Buff competing in the men's javelin event.
Riley Burkey will sprint in the women's 400-meter dash, while Joy Moorer will run in the women's 400-meter hurdles.Â
The meet will conclude for the Buffs with Burkey competing in the women's 200-meter dash
The Desert Heat Classic will begin at 1:00 p.m. MT, featuring Amanda Opp and Jane Powers in the women's hammer throw.Â
Matt Ward, fresh off his first Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor, returns alongside Tyler Sconce and Laurence Atkinson in the men's hammer. Ward has broken the school record in the hammer throw three times this season, including twice last weekend. Ward and Atkinson will also be participating in the men's discus.
Kara Lucyk will be the sole participant in the long jump, followed by Allie Routledge and Avery McMullen in the high jump.Â
Troy Colleran and Jackson Meyer will take on the men's high jump.
The running events will get going later in the evening with Nichoals Bianco sprinting for the Buffs in the men's 110-meter high hurdles. Elle Orie and Alisa Meraz-Fishbein will be running in the women's 3000-meter Steeplechase.
Alex Baca will represent the Buffs in the men's 5000-meters.Â
The meet concludes with the highly anticipated men's 4 x 400m relay, where the Buffs will have two squads participating. Squad A will feature a combination of Tyler Williams, Ian Gilmore, Garrett Nelson and James Milholen and Luke Dry, while squad B will consist of Ben Greene, Isaiah Givens, Ryan Lindrud, and Noah Hibbard.
