Sherrod Included on Midseason Wooden Award Watch List

One of six Pac-12 players
LOS ANGELES – Colorado point guard Jaylyn Sherrod was one of 25 players named to the John R. Wooden Award® presented by Principal® Preseason Midseason Top 25 Watch List as announced on ESPN2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts based on their performances during the 2023-24 season thus far, the list comprises of 25 student-athletes who are front-runners for the sport's most prestigious honor.
Sherrod was one of six players from the Pac-12, the most by any conference, included on the list.
She is averaging 13.6 points and 5.7 assists this season and is one of 14 players in the nation averaging at least 10.0 points, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals (2.5). Sherrod has had five or more assists in seven games this season, including a career-high 13 in the Buffs' win over UT Arlington. She became the fourth Buff in program history to have over 1,000 career points (1,251) and 500 career assists. Her 553 career assists are currently the seventh most by an active DI player.
The Birmingham, Ala., native, is 24th in the NCAA in assists per game and is 26th in the country with 80 assists this season. She ranks third in the Pac-12 in Pac-12 in total steals (35) and steals per game. Sherrod scored a career-high 34 points on a career-best 13 made baskets to go with six steals, four rebounds, four assists to go with just one turnover in Colorado's win over then-No. 12 Utah. Following the win, she earned Player of the Week honors from ESPN, the Associated Press, the US Basketball Writers Association and was the Pac-12 Player of the Week.
The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2024 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year presented by Principal. Players not chosen to the preseason or midseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Award™ National Ballot. The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early-round games. The Wooden Award All-American Team™ will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2024 John R. Wooden Award will be presented by Principal following the NCAA Tournament in April.

Wooden Award Program hosts the most prestigious honors in college basketball recognizing The Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player for men and women, The Wooden Award All America Teams for men and women and the annual selection of the Wooden Award Legend of Coaching recipient. Honorees have proven to their university that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the John R. Wooden Award as set forth by Coach Wooden and the Wooden Award Steering Committee, including making progress towards graduation and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Additionally, the John R. Wooden Award partners with the Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) each year to host the Wooden Award Special Olympics Southern California Basketball Tournament. The day-long tournament brings together Special Olympics athletes and Wooden Award All-Americans and coaches in attendance. It is hosted at the Los Angeles Athletic Club during the John R. Wooden Award Weekend.
The Legends of Coaching Award presented by Principal will be presented to University of Kentucky coach John Calipari, along with the Wooden Award Men's and Women's Players of the Year on April 12, 2024.
