Buffs Close Weekend With Top Finishes On The Track
January 13, 2024 | Track and Field
BOULDER - The University of Colorado track and field program ended its first home meet on a great note on day two of the Potts Invitational here Saturday afternoon. Several Buffs set personal records while also winning multiple races outright at the Indoor Practice Facility.
Luc Andrada started the day off by finishing first in the 60m as Johnny Homsy and Sam Beckham both competed in their first collegiate 60m race, finishing third and fourth.
Later on, Joy Moorer set a PR of her own in the 200m with a time of 24.72 after finishing right behind Avery McMullen. McMullen went on to place first in all three of her races on the day.
Seniors Abbey Glynn and Katie Doucette kept the trend of personal bests going as Glynn showed she can fly in the 800m with a first-place finish in 2:11.32. Doucette recorded a PR of 4:53.20 in the mile while being the first Buff to cross the finish line.
Colorado was firing on all cylinders the entire weekend and didn't seem to have much rust to shake off after the winter break. The Buffs are back in action next week as Air Force will host the Ralph Lindeman Invitational on January 19 & 20.
"This week we're going to progress our lifting plan, assistant coach Casey Malone said after competition on Friday. "We did a lot of make-you-sore lifting over break because we can and so they're coming off some hard weeks of training in the weight room and have some pretty sore legs and sore bodies."
"So we're gonna continue to start to build into more of our peaking cycles of training and lifting as we go into the next couple of weeks as we build up towards our meet next week at Air Force."
