Buffs Record Two First-Place Finishes To End Weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado track and field program continued on with its busy weekend on the final day of competition here Saturday at the Ralph Lindeman Classic. 

Lauren Whyrick kicked off the day for the Buffs, placing first in the women's shot put with a throw of 13.51m, while Meghan Whyrick threw 12.71m for a second-place finish. Amanda Opp also competed in the event, placing eighth with a throw of 11.29m. 

In the women's high jump, Allie Routledge secured another victory for Colorado with her jump of 1.76m. Avery McMullen followed, placing second with a jump of 1.73m. The two Buffs were the only women to clear 1.73m in the event. 

On the track, Danny Tragarz finished second in the men's 400-meter final, running a time of 49.21. Cole Romig placed fifth, clocking 49.65. 

Following the 400, Emma Pollak placed second in the women's 60-meter final with a time of 7.59. Ian Gilmore also had a runner-up finish in the men's 60 final with his time of 6.85. Johnny Homsy competed in the event as well, running 6.91 to place fifth. 

To close out the day, Nick Gehring placed second in the men's 200-meter final, running a time of 21.73.

The Buffs will be back in action next weekend at the Mines Winter Classic starting Friday, January 26.
