Formann Named to Wooden Preseason Top 50 Watch List

One of eight Big 12 players included on the list
LOS ANGELES – Colorado guard Frida Formann was selected as one of 50 players for the Los Angeles Athletic Club John R. Wooden Award®, presented by Principal, Preseason Watch List on WoodenAward.com on Thursday.
The list, chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball: the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award.
The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2025 John R. Wooden Award® Women's Player of the Year. Players not chosen to the preseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Award® midseason list, late season list, and the National Ballot. The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award®. Wooden Award™ voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during the tournament's early round games. The Wooden Award All-American Team™ will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2025 John R. Wooden Award®, presented by Principal, will be presented at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on April 11, 2025.
The Bagsværd, Denmark, native matched CU's single-season 3-point record, hitting a career-high 82 triples, and became the school's career record holder for 3-pointers made (men & women), ending the 2023-24 season with 260 career makes. She twice tied the school record with seven 3s in a game last season and twice posted a career-high 27 points. She also ranked second in the Pac-12 in 3-pointers per game (2.41).
The graduate student sharpshooter, who was a Third-Team CSC Academic All-America selection last season, was lights-out from the free-throw line, hitting 90,1% (64-71). She surpassed 1,000 career points last season (1,326) and had career-highs in points per game (12.5) and assists per game (2.1).

Wooden Award® All Americans have proven to their university that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the John R. Wooden Award® as set forth by Coach Wooden and the Wooden Award® Steering Committee, including making progress towards graduation and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Previous winners include Larry Bird ('79), Michael Jordan ('84), Tim Duncan ('97), Kevin Durant ('07), Candace Parker ('07; '08), Maya Moore ('09; '11), Breanna Stewart ('15; '16), and the last two year's ('23 &'24) recipients, Caitlin Clark of Iowa and Zach Edey of Purdue.
Since its inception, the John R. Wooden Award® has made charitable gifts of nearly one million dollars in the names of the Wooden Award All-American recipients and has sent more than 1,000 underprivileged children to week-long college basketball camps. Additionally, the John R. Wooden Award® partners with the Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) each year to host the Wooden Award® Special Olympics basketball day. The event brings together Special Olympics athletes and Wooden Award® All Americans and coaches in attendance. It is hosted at the Los Angeles Athletic Club during the John R. Wooden Award® Weekend.
The Wooden Award® Legends of Coaching honoree for 2025 is Mark Few of Gonzaga who will be presented his honor along with the Wooden Award® Men's and Women's Players of the Year on April 11, 2025.
