BOULDER – The Colorado men's and women's track and field teams have their final rounds of competition this weekend before they host the Pac-12 Championships on May 10-12. The Buffaloes will be split between three different meets at Stanford, Colorado State and Arizona.
The Buffs' first day of action is on Friday when they take on the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif. The meet will be a one-day meet with events starting at 3 p.m. MT and ending around 11:30 p.m.
The Buffs are sending Isaiah Givens, Lukas Haug, Noah Hibbard, Kole Mathison, Caleb Niednagel, James Overberg, Charlie Welch and Conner Wingfield to represent the Black and Gold for the men. On the women's end, Ella Baran, Samree Dishon, Katie Doucette, Bailey Hertenstein and Abbey Nechanicky wrap up the group traveling to Stanford.
On Saturday, Colorado will compete in the Doug Max Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo. while also sending athletes to Tucson, Ariz. for the Desert Heat Classic.
The field portion at CSU will begin with throwing events at 10 a.m. and jumps at 11 a.m. Isaiah Bouchard, Lucas Williams, Ames Newman and Drake Miller will make up the Colorado field athletes on the men's side as Obi Osafo-Mensah will be the lone Buff competing in the discus throw on the women's side.
On the track in Fort Collins, 12 Colorado distance runners will lace their spikes up. CU's busiest race of the day will be the men's 5,000-meter, which includes eight Buffs' runners led by Elias Lindgren.
The Desert Heat Classic at Arizona will be Colorado's largest meet of the weekend. It will start at noon on Saturday and end shortly after 10 p.m. The Buffs are sending over 25 men and 15 women to Tucson in what will technically be Colorado's final meet before the Pac-12 Championships.
