Buffs Best Rams in Hawaii North Shore Showcase, 69-58
November 24, 2025 | Women's Basketball
Senior forward Jade Masogayo reached 500 career rebounds
LAIE, Oahu – Colorado women's basketball (5-1, 0-0 Big 12) defeated Virginia Commonwealth (3-3, 0-0 A-10), 69-58, at the George Q. Cannon Activities Center in the second game of the Hawaii North Shore Showcase on Monday, Nov. 24.
The Buffaloes played a close first quarter with the Rams but extended their lead by 10 points by the end of the second quarter. Throughout the third and fourth quarters, Colorado and VCU battled, but Colorado took the win, 69-58.
"It was just a gritty win," head coach JR Payne stated. "VCU is a really good team. I think they're going to win a lot of games this year, so it was great that we were able to build a lead with a combination of defensive intensity and good offense. Definitely didn't want to have that type of fourth quarter, but they're a good team, and we found a way to get stops and score when we needed to."
Colorado had more assists (18-11) and steals (16-8) than VCU. The Buffs had 46 points in the paint, 13 second-chance points and 10 points off fast breaks.
