Colorado Gears Up for Wyoming

BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team (6-3, 0-0 Big 12) continues its home stand this weekend with a game against Wyoming (3-4, 0-0 Mountain West) on Dec. 7 at CU Events Center at 1 p.m. MT.
 
CU faces Wyoming for the 51st time in program history, having won the last two matchups against the Cowgirls. The Black and Gold is 7-3 in the last 10 games in the rivalry, and the Buffs are 2-0 already against Mountain West opponents this season.
 
Colorado split its last two games, both at the CU Events Center. The Buffs last faced College of Charleston, beating the Cougars, 66-47, on Dec. 2, following up their loss to Montana State (71-70, Nov. 30).

  • CU is led by 10th-year head coach JR Payne, who has led the Buffs to a 170-119 (.588) record as CU's eighth head women's basketball coach. Coach Payne has been extended through the 2028 season and has led the Buffs to three NCAA appearances, two WNIT appearances and one WBIT appearance.
  • In its second year back in the Big 12, Colorado was picked to finish ninth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll.
  • The Buffs return three from last year's roster, including one starter, in Sr. F Jade Masogayo, R-So. G Kennedy Sanders and 5th C JoJo Nworie.
  • Colorado welcomes 10 newcomers for the 2025-26 season, five transfers and five freshmen. The five transfers include R-Jr. G Zyanna Walker (Kansas State), R-Jr. G Desiree Wooten (North Texas), Jr. G Claire O'Connor (Gonzaga), R-Jr. G Maeve McErlane (DePaul) and Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat (Rhode Island). The five freshmen include G Erianna Gooden (Fork Smith, Ark./Northside H.S.), C Jade Crook (Albury, Australia/Basketball Australia Center of Excellence/Lake Ginninderra College), G Isa Hämäläinen (Lorentzweiler, Luxembourg/European School of Luxembourg 1), F Logyn Greer (Lansdowne, Pa./Friends' Central School) and F Sophie Zadel (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights H.S).
  • R-Jr. G Zyanna Walker is 11th in conference for free throw percentage with 80.8%. She is also 18th for assists per game with 3.8, and 14th for assist-to-turnover ratio with 1.9. Her top mark is third in the Big 12 for steals per game with 2.5. Against Montana State, she had eight rebounds, four points, four steals and two assists (Nov. 30). When the Buffs played College of Charleston, she had six points, three rebounds and two assists (Dec. 2).
  • Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat is second in the Big 12 for rebounds per game with 9.4. She is also 17th for free throw percentage (73.3) and 13th for steals per game with 2.0. Dutat had 10 points, nine rebounds, one steal and one assists against MSU (Nov. 30), and 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block when matched up with Charleston (Dec. 2).
  • Sr. F Jade Masogayo is 13th for blocks per game with 1.1. Masogayo had three blocks against Montana State, as well as 16 points, two assists and three rebounds (Nov. 30). Against Charleston, she had eight rebounds, two points, four assists, one steal and one block (Dec. 2).
  • R-So. G Kennedy Sanders is 18th in the Big 12 for steals per game with 1.9. Sanders had 12 points and three assists against Montana State (Nov. 30), and she had 14 points, two assists, two steals and a rebound versus CofC (Dec. 2).
  • As a team, the Buffs are second in the Big 12 for steals per game (12.25), third for free throw percentage with (75.5), fifth for turnover margin (4.25) and sixth for rebounding margin (8.6).

YEE HAW, COWGIRLS: Going into the teams' 51st meeting all-time, the Buffs look to extend their win streak to three. Last season, the CU made its way to Laramie, Wyo., where it beat Wyoming, 56-50 (Nov. 4, 2024). The Buffs are 22-3 when playing the Cowgirls in the Events Center, and have won seven of the last 10.
 
#11 GREER: Fr. F Logyn Greer is excited for her first year with the Buffs and is most proud of her 1,000 career points and McDonald's All-American nomination in high school. Outside of basketball, she loves listening to Lil Tjay and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, as well as participating in her favorite hobby: sleeping!
 
#13 MCERLANE: R-Jr. G Maeve McErlane is not the only member of her family with a passion for basketball; her brother also plays at Catholic University, where he is a freshman. Additionally, their mother played basketball at LaSalle University, so it is clear that hoops runs in the family. McErlane is a transfer from DePaul University and is excited to find her home in Boulder.
