September 23, 2025 | Football
BOULDER — Colorado quarterback Kaidon Salter has picked up multiple national and local honors following his standout Week 4 performance in the Buffaloes' 37-20 victory against Wyoming.
Salter completed 18 of 28 passes for 304 yards while adding 86 yards on the ground, including a decisive 35-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The performance marked his best outing of the season and helped the Buffs to their third win.
His efforts drew wide recognition. Salter was named to the Manning Award's "Stars of the Week" list, earned honorable mention for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week, was selected as the National Football Foundation–Colorado Chapter Week 4 Player of the Week, and was honored as the CU Student-Athlete of the Week.
Salter's performance also carried historical significance:
This season, he is 48 of 72 passing for 565 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing 32 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns, totaling 718 yards of offense with seven touchdowns.
Head coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders praised Salter's poise and ability to deliver in key moments.
"Kaidon showed us exactly what he's capable of," Coach Prime said. "He stayed calm, made the right decisions, and when the game was on the line he rose to the occasion. That's the type of leadership we expect, and he gave this team the spark it needed."
Up next for the Buffaloes will be the 25th ranked Cougars of Brigham Young on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 8:15 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Salter's performance also carried historical significance:
- It was just the fourth 300-yard passing, 80-yard rushing game in CU history.
- It marked only the second game in CU history with the combination of 300 passing yards, 80 rushing yards, three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.
- It was the 13th game in CU history where a player has passed for three or more touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown.
- His 86 rushing yards were the most by a CU quarterback since Steven Montez ran for 108 yards at UCLA on Sept. 30, 2017.
- It was his third career 300-yard passing game and his first at CU. His last 300-yard passing effort came on Dec. 1, 2023, when he threw for 319 yards against New Mexico State while at Liberty.
