Buffs Throwers Highlight Day One of the Colorado Invitational
January 23, 2026 | Track and Field
BOULDER — Colorado's throwers hit the field at the Ford Practice Facility (FPF) on Friday, kicking off the first day of the Colorado Invitational.
Three Buffaloes competed in the meet's first day. Amanda Opp (weight throw) and Alaina Fantaski (shot put) represented the women, while Lucas Williams (weight throw) was CU's lone male competitor.
Opp posted a season-best mark in the weight throw for the second consecutive week. She bested her 16.69-meter toss from last week's Potts Invitational with 17.56 meters on Friday. Her distance currently ranks 11th in the Big 12 and 12th in the Mountain Region. Fantaski also set a new personal-best mark of 8.13 meters on her final throw of the day.
Williams threw his third throw of over 18.0 meters in the men's weight throw. He topped out with a distance of 18.04 meters on his last throw in the finals heat.
Max Manson, competing unattached but formerly from the University of Washington, matched the FPF facility record in the men's pole vault, topping out at 5.25 meters.
