BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team (13-7, 4-4 Big 12) heads back on the road this week to the Sunflower state to play Kansas State (11-10, 4-4 Big 12) on Jan. 29 at Bramlage Coliseum at 5:30 p.m. MT. 
 
The Buffs will face the Wildcats for the first time this season and for the 71st time in program history. Colorado last faced Kansas State last season in Boulder, where the Buffs defeated the then-10th-ranked Wildcats, 63-53 (Jan. 25, 2025).
 
Last Sunday, the Buffs hosted Oklahoma State – the two teams' second meeting in two weeks. CU played an aggressive and well-scouted game against the Cowgirls, gaining redemption for its previous loss and defeating OSU, 79-65 (Jan. 25). As a team, CU had 42 points in the paint, 18 points off fast breaks and 29 bench points, Senior forward Jade Masogayo led the Buffs in scoring, matching her career high of 22 points and finishing with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and a block.
 
TIP-OFF (TL;DR)
  • CU is led by 10th-year head coach JR Payne, who has led the Buffs to a 176-123 (.587) record as CU's eighth head women's basketball coach. Coach Payne has been extended through the 2028 season and has led the Buffs to three NCAA appearances, two WNIT appearances and one WBIT appearance.
  • In its second year back in the Big 12, Colorado was picked to finish ninth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll. Colorado is 113-153 (.425) overall in Big 12 conference play.
  • The Buffs return four from the 2024-25 roster: Sr. F Jade Masogayo, So. G Kennedy Sanders, 5th C JoJo Nworie and So. F Tabitha Betson.
  • Colorado welcomes 10 newcomers for the 2025-26 season, five transfers and five freshmen. The five transfers include Jr. G Zyanna Walker (Kansas State), Jr. G Desiree Wooten (North Texas), Jr. G Claire O'Connor (Gonzaga), Jr. G Maeve McErlane (DePaul) and Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat (Rhode Island). The five freshmen include G Erianna Gooden (Fork Smith, Ark./Northside H.S.), C Jade Crook (Albury, Australia/Basketball Australia Center of Excellence/Lake Ginninderra College), G Isa Hämäläinen (Lorentzweiler, Luxembourg/European School of Luxembourg 1), F Logyn Greer (Lansdowne, Pa./Friends' Central School) and F Sophie Zadel (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights H.S).
  • Sr. F Jade Masogayo is 24th in conference for blocks per game with 0.7. Masogayo matched her career-high in points with 22 against Oklahoma State, and she finished with five rebounds, one steal, one assist and a block (Jan. 25). This was her 12th game this season with double-digit points.
  • Jr. G Desiree Wooten is ranked 25th in the Big 12 for points per game with 12.0. Wooten had her 14th game this season with double-digit points against the Cowgirls, finishing with 15 (Jan. 25).
  • Jr. G Zyanna Walker is sixth in conference for steals per game (2.2), 19th for free throw percentage (73.5%) and 20th for assists per game (2.9). Walker had her 12th game with double-digit points this season against Oklahoma State, finishing with 13 (Jan. 25).
  • Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat is second in conference for rebounds per game with 8.7, second for total rebounds with 173, and leads the conference in total offensive rebounds with 75. She is also 11th for steals per game (2.0). She had eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals versus Oklahoma State (Jan. 25).
  • Fr. F Logyn Greer is 22nd in conference for blocks per game with 0.8. Greer finished with nine points, nine rebounds and four assists against OSU (Jan. 25).
  • As a team, the Buffs are fourth in the Big 12 for steals per game (10.65), fourth for offensive rebounds per game (13.7), sixth for rebounding margin (6.7), sixth for scoring defense (60.6), seventh for rebounds per game (38.8), seventh for turnover margin (2.40) and seventh for free throw percentage (73.0).

Sr. F Jade Masogayo has 96 career steals, four away from 100, and 191 assists, nine away from 200. Jr. G Maeve McErlane has 91 rebounds, nine away from 100, and she has 188 points, 12 away from 200. Jr. G Desiree Wooten has 191 assists, nine away from 200.
 
MILESTONE CHECK: Fr. F Logyn Greer reached 100 rebounds against Oklahoma State (Jan. 25). Jr. G Desiree Wooten reached 800 career points against the Cowgirls (Jan. 25).
 
DOUBLE OR NOTHING: At Oklahoma State, Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat had her 10th career double-double and fourth of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds (Jan. 14). This was the Buffs' fifth double-double on the season.
 
ASSISTED BY: The Buffs have had double figures in assists in all but one game this season (vs. Wyoming, Dec. 7). CU has had 20 or more assists twice -- 20 versus Boise State (Nov. 18), and 20 against Arizona (Dec. 31). Colorado is averaging 14.7 assists per game as a team.
 
GIMME THAT!: Colorado has had 13 games this season with 10 or more steals as a team, averaging 10.7 steals per game.
 
FIGURE THAT: Four Buffs scored in double-figures against the Knights (Jan. 18), the 10th time this season CU has had four or more players with double-digit points. The Buffs are 7-3 in games where four or more players are in double-digits. Versus UCF, Jr. G Zyanna Walker had 13 points, Sr. F Jade Masogayo had 12, So. F Tabitha Betson had 13 and Jr. G Desiree Wooten had 15 points.
