Pearson Delivers Rosy Performance at BU Valentine Invitational
February 14, 2026 | Track and Field
BOSTON — Avery Pearson set a new personal record in the 800 meter run as the Colorado Buffaloes track & field team concluded the 2026 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational Saturday at the BU Track & Tennis Center. Â
"Avery had another great day," said Sean Carlson, CU's Director of Cross Country and Track & Field. "She keeps winning races and that will continue to translate into faster and faster times."
Senior Amanda Opp also competed in the Weight Throw as the two women finished a strong weekend for the Buffs that included a men's meet on Friday and women's meet on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pearson, running the second heat of the elite women's 800m, finished with a time of 2:03.21, convincingly eclipsing her previous personal best of 2:04.15 and further cementing herself in second place in program history in the women's indoor 800m.Â
The graduate student from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada also broke the tape in her heat, continuing an undefeated streak in which she has not lost a heat in the 800m all season. Overall, Pearson finished in eighth.  Â
In keeping with the Valentine's Day spirit, Pearson has shown an affinity for Beantown, as her previous personal record also came in Boston, in the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic on January 31.  Â

The Buffs are back home in the Ford Practice Facility next Friday, February 20 for the Colorado Last Chance meet. The day will start with a special recognition of Colorado's track & field seniors at 11 a.m. before running events start at noon.
It'll be the last opportunity to see the Buffaloes take the track before they head to Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lubbock, Texas on February 27-28.     Â
