FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Danny Tragarz and Kole Mathison punched their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, bringing Colorado's total to three qualifiers through three days of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field West First Rounds.

Results can be found at cubuffs.com/tracklive.

Mathison got the day started in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, running a gutsy race to finish second in his heat and fourth overall in a personal-best time of 8:30.36.

The performance improved his previous best by more than two seconds and secured his spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the third consecutive season.

Later in the evening, Tragarz continued his outstanding season in the men's 400-meter hurdles.

The junior placed third in his heat in 50.10 to earn an automatic qualifying spot to Eugene and secure the first NCAA Outdoor Championship berth of his career.

Tragarz has been one of the most consistent hurdlers in the nation this season and enters the championship meet with a personal best of 49.84, set earlier this month at the Big 12 Championships.

Colorado's final competitor of the weekend will be Avery Pearson in the women's 800-meter quarterfinals on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. MT. Pearson will look to join Nechanicky, Mathison and Tragarz in Eugene.
