Long Jump: 21-10
2005 Outlook: Messimer will give coach James Nyumutei some much needed depth in the jumps.
High School: A two-sport athlete at Boulder, he lettered one year in track in the long jump and his PR is 21-10 at the 2004 regional meet at Legacy Stadium. He also played forward on the Panthers’ soccer team.
Academics: An academic honor roll student at Boulder High, Messimer is a mechanical engineering major at Colorado and he’s also interested in music.
Personal: Michael Prentice Messimer was born Dec. 12, 1985 in Boulder. He is the son of Pete Messimer and Kathy and Jim Phillips of Boulder. He has an older sister, Katie, who is a freshman at Front Range Community College. His stepfather, Jim Phillips, was an offensive tackle for the Buffs, lettering in 1968, 69 and ’70. He travels extensively and has been to Australia, Tanzania and Mexico. He has worked for the Sugarloaf Fire Department in fire mitigation.
