What sparked your interest in the Ralphie program?
I grew up with horses and have always enjoyed the western lifestyle. When I came to Boulder, I saw Ralphie Running as the perfect balance between that western lifestyle and a physical challenge.
What does Ralphie mean to you?
Ralphie is family and unity. No matter where you go as a CU Buffalo, you can always depend on everyone getting excited for Ralphie. Even opposing teams can't get enough of the greatest mascot in America.
What's the hardest part of being a Ralphie Handler?
There is nothing that is really like Ralphie Handling, so getting the hang of it in the beginning is probably the hardest part. After that, practice makes perfect. Thats exactly what we aim for every time we are with Ralphie.
What's the best part of being a Ralphie Handler?
Running across the field with a majestic buffalo as thousands of fans screaming from excitement is an incredible moment.
What's one thing that surprises people the most when they ask you about being a Ralphie Handler?
Most people are surprised by the amount of work that the Handler team puts into running Ralphie. Whether we are working in the weight room or practicing with Ralphie, there is always a lot to get done everyday.
What's one thing about Ralphie that surprised you the most after becoming a Ralphie Handler?
How incredibly intelligent Buffaloes are. Ralphie has a different relationship with every handler and recognizes each of us.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy anything outdoorsy with a physical challenge, such as hiking and rock climbing.
What are three things that make you unique?
I hold the record at my high school for pole vault, I have taught english in Brazil and I am a Daniels Scholar.
