WHAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN THE RALPHIE PROGRAM?
My interest with the Ralphie Program stems back when I was in elementary school. I was at friend's house whose Father was a former CU Football Player and I saw a picture of Ralphie in his living room. I inquired about the photo and he gave me a little history about the program and what she means to the state of Colorado. Fast forward several years, I eventually transferred to the University of Colorado and saw a flyer in the Rec Center about tryouts for the Ralphie Handler team and I knew right away I wanted to be a part of this amazing tradition.
WHAT DOES RALPHIE MEAN TO YOU?
For me, Ralphie is the face of CU. The Buff symbol is everywhere, and she is a part of anything and everything that has to do with the University of Colorado.
WHAT'S THE HARDEST PART OF BEING A RALPHIE HANDLER?
The hardest but most rewarding part of being a Ralphie Handler is the responsibility and time commitment that comes along with it. The workouts, the conditioning, and all the care that handlers and coaches put into taking care of Ralphie is awesome. She means so much to the University and the fans that we owe it to her to do our best to make sure she is always comfortable and safe so this tradition can carry on for many years to come.
WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF BEING A RALPHIE HANDLER?
So far, the best part of being a Ralphie Handler is getting to be around the other Handlers and coaches. We all love Ralphie and we all love what we do so it makes it an awesome overall experience to be a part of. Everyday there is something to look forward to.
WHAT'S ONE THING THAT SURPRISES PEOPLE THE MOST WHEN THEY ASK YOU ABOUT BEING A RALPHIE HANDLER?
The one thing that surprises people the most when they ask about being a Ralphie Handler is the fact that Ralphie is a girl.
WHAT'S ONE THING ABOUT RALPHIE THAT SURPRISED YOU THE MOST AFTER BECOMING A RALPHIE HANDLER?
What surprised me the most about Ralphie after becoming a Handler is how fast she really is. I know this seems ironic but being up close with Ralphie really gives you an idea of how big and fast she is. It gave me a lot of respect for the returning Handlers because it makes you realize how much work it takes to run with the Buff.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
My favorite hobbies are surfing, fishing, backpacking, and recreational shooting.
