What sparked your interest in the Ralphie program?
I attended my first CU football game at the age of eight. Watching Ralphie and her Handlers charge the field was a thrilling moment. At that game I told my parents I wanted to be a Ralphie Handler!
What does Ralphie mean to you?
Ralphie is a symbol of pride, tradition and hard work. She represents the university and the spirit of Colorado.
What's the hardest part of being a Ralphie Handler?
The hardest part of being a Ralphie Handler is the learning curve … team workouts, form and strength training in the weight room, working on the ranch, learning about the breed, preparing her for game days and events … there are many important details and behind-the-scene work to make for the best runs and appearances.
What's the best part of being a Ralphie Handler?
Being a member of an amazing team of Handlers and coaches, our group’s camaraderie, and getting to know an incredibly smart and beautiful animal.
What's one thing that surprises people the most when they ask you about being a Ralphie Handler?
There are two things that come up the most … we do not run Ralphie in our cowboy boots and the time we spend working out, preparing, training, practicing and nurturing Ralphie.
What's one thing about Ralphie that surprised you the most after becoming a Ralphie Handler?
Ralphie surprised me with her distinct personality. You start to know what she likes and doesn’t like. It’s been a great experience getting to know her and having her recognize me. The experience has been exhilarating.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy rock climbing, running, hiking, Crossfit, hammocking, traveling, card and board games, and spending time with family and friends.
