Career: Four-year letterwinner • Finished No. 27 all-time in doubles victories (42) • Also had 28 singles wins • Seven wins in three sets • Four of the seven wins rallying back from a set down • Clinched seven doubles points, resulting in CU wins • Won four Pac-12 Conference singles and a pair of doubles matches.
2015 Spring (senior): Named Co-Most Improved player honor (Julyette Steur) • Opened dual play winning three straight singles matches • Defeated a trio of Pac-12 opponents (Stanford, Oregon, Washington State), all at No. 6 and in straight sets • Trio of Pac-12 wins, tied for second most on the team • Five victories overall, all at No. 6; most wins at any singles position during four year career • In doubles, teamed up with Alex Aiello with six wins at No. 2, the second highest win total of any duo • Reached the winners circle six straight times to open spring season with Aiello • Clinched a pair of doubles team wins with Aiello against Northern Colorado (Jan. 24) and an upset over then-No. 66 Kansas State (Jan. 31) • With a pair of wins in the fall and six in the spring, Aiello/Tiefel won the most doubles as a CU pair all season (eight).
2014 Fall (senior): Began her final season winning seven of 10 doubles matches with three different tennis partners • Four wins with Tina Bokhua, a pair with Alex Aiello, and once with Nuria Ormeño Ruiz • Three wins with Bokhua at the CU Invitational (Sept. 25-28) • Picked up three singles wins in fall play.
2014 Spring (junior): Named recipient of the most improved student-athlete award and the tennis team’s Sports Performer of the Year • Teamed with Julyette Steur for a team-high 14 doubles wins • 10 of those coming in the spring, also a team best • Went 9-2 at No. 3 • Clinched a pair of doubles matches with Steur: Northern Colorado (Jan. 24) and Boise State (Jan. 25) • Started spring campaign winning five in a row, including 10 of 12 wins from Jan. 24-Mar. 9 • In singles, won nine matches for the year, three in the spring • Clinched CU’s 4-2 win at No. 6 against then-No. 54 Wichita State (Feb. 23) with a straight set win.
2013 Fall (junior): Won six singles and six doubles matches • Advanced to the Round of 32 at the ITA Mountain Regional in Las Vegas (Oct. 9-13) • Won six of 10 doubles matches, four with Steur, another pair with Nuria Ormeño Ruiz.
2013 Spring (sophomore): Became first CU woman to advance at the Pac-12 Tournament singles main draw, defeating Laura Posylkin (California) 6-1, 6-3 in the Round of 64 Invitational main draw • Won eight singles matches, including a personal-best four in a row • Began the spring season winning four of five singles matches in non-conference play • One of six CU women to win a Pac-12 Conference match, the most since the 2010 team in Big 12 play • Won two matches each at No. 5 and No. 6 • Clinched a doubles win in 7-0 sweep of Northern Colorado (Feb. 1) • Unbeaten in three singles matches when playing three sets.
2012 Fall (sophomore): Won three times each in singles and doubles.
2012 Spring (freshman): Battled injuries during the spring season playing the No. 5 and No. 6 positions • Defeated Madeline Jolly (St. Louis: Mar. 3) in straight sets for her lone singles victory • In doubles, won five times at No. 3 • Three wins with Erin Sanders and a pair with Ania Anuszkiewicz • Clinched two doubles points with Sanders with victories over New Mexico (Feb. 11) and Metro State (Mar. 17).
2011 Fall (freshman): Began her initial season at the Kansas Invitational (Sept. 16-18) playing in the singles and doubles competitions • Won three of four doubles matches and two of three singles matches • Defeated Arkansas State’s Jess Heeps-Eriken in her first collegiate match rallying from a set down with a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0(4) victory • Teamed up with Erin Sanders with three of four doubles wins to earn the consolation title at the KU Invite.
Blue Valley HS: As a senior, won the Kansas 5A Regional Singles Championship (Oct. 2010) and helping Blue Valley win the 5A Kansas State Team Championship, both feats were a first in school history • Achieved a 26-1 singles record (.963) as a senior and tallied a 90-17 singles mark (.841) over her four years • Helped the team to 26-9-1 record over her four years, including an 8-1 mark as a senior • Posted the all-time girls singles and doubles wins over her four years at Blue Valley • Three-time Kansas All-State first team and Kansas academic selection • Three-time All-Metro (Kansas City), Eastern Kansas League and Sun Country recipient • Senior year was selected as “Athlete of the Week” by the Kansas City Star (October and November of 2010) • Four-year letterwinner for head coach Nelson Elliott • Junior Year: 24-4 singles record finishing third in the Kansas 6A Regional and state tennis singles • Sophomore Year: 22-7 singles mark and finished fourth in Kansas 6A Regional and state tennis singles • Freshman Year: Fifth in the Kansas 6A Regional with an 18-5 singles record.
USTA Notes: 2009 USTA Heart of America Player of the Year • 2008 USTA Missouri Valley Junior Sportsmanship Award Winner for Girls 16’s • Made the Prince Hot 100 List (August of 2009) • Top ranking in Tennis Recruit was 98th in 2010 • Played with the Kansas City United Tennis Academy under the tutelage of Elliott McDermed.
Personal: Born June 3, 1993 in Leawood, Kan. • Daughter of John and Kathy Tiefel • Younger sister, Alexa • Father played No. 1 singles and doubles for St. Bonaventure during his freshman year • Goals after college is to use CU degree to the fullest and to be marketable in the business world • Lists as her biggest moments of high school career winning the 5A Girls High School Team Tennis Championship and being fortunate to win the 5A Girls High School Singles Championship as a senior • Played competitive softball for eight years and was member of the Kansas City All-Metro softball team during the summers of 2005, 2006, 2007.
In The Classroom: Graduated in May 2015 with a degree in business • Named Pac-12 Conference Academic honorable mention her senior year • Named most improved Student-Athlete Award (2014-15).
