“I am very excited to have Mike join our program,” said Kenneally. “Mike brings a vast array of knowledge which includes several years of college coaching experience. I am very fortunate to have someone of Mike’s caliber assisting us.”
Haber brings over 17 years of experience in coaching and teaching tennis to the Colorado women’s tennis program.
Haber’s tennis coaching experience dates back to the River Trails Tennis Center in Arlington Heights, Ill., where he assumed the position of head tennis professional from 1993-96. He followed that with a stint as head men’s tennis coach at his alma mater Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., from 1996-1998. Haber then moved to the Division I ranks when he accepted a position as assistant women’s tennis coach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1998-2001. His most recent tennis experience came with the Miramont Sports Center in Fort Collins, Colo., where he served as the director of tennis and head tennis professional from 2001-03. While in Fort Collins, he helped develop the center’s programs into the largest in Northern Colorado.
In addition to his experience, Haber is certified by the USA Tennis High Performance Coaching Certification, co-president of the USPTA Colorado District, served on the USTA/Midwest Collegiate Tennis Committee, and many others. He has been certified in coaching by USA Tennis, the USTA and USPTA.
On the tennis court, Haber has held top five USTA national rankings in singles and doubles in the 25, 30, and 35 and over age groups and holder of 13 USTA award balls.
Haber holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Ferris State, with an emphasis on professional tennis management. While at Ferris State, he was a national qualifier and all-Conference performer from 1991-1993.
Born July 8, 1966 in Chicago, Ill., Haber graduated from Niles North High School, where he lettered in tennis and soccer. He is married to the former Tanya Ogrodnik. The couple is expecting their first child in February 2004.
