BOULDER - Tera Bjorklund had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and No. 20 Colorado defeated Idaho State 95-65 Friday night in an opening-round game of the Coors Classic.

Colorado will meet California, a 66-47 winner over Lehigh, in the championship game Saturday night.

Randie Wirt added 17 points, Veronica Johns-Richardson 16 and Kate Fagan 14 for the Buffaloes, who outshot Idaho State 48 percent to 36 percent.

Lindy Whitley scored 16 points and Molly Hays had 10 points and 17 rebounds for the Bengals, who made only 1-of-5 free throws compared to Colorado's 22-of-30.

In coach Ceal Barry's 400th victory at Colorado and the 483rd of her career, the Buffaloes used a 10-0 run early in the second half to produce a 61-43 lead.

Fagan had five points during the flurry, including a three-point play, and Johns-Richardson fed Bjorklund and Fagan on back-to-back layups.

Fagan's fastbreak layup capped a 6-0 run and made it 70-50 with 9:17 left, and the Bengals got no closer than 18 points after that.

Wirt scored four points and freshman Emily Waner hit a 3-pointer from the corner to highlight a 9-0 spurt that gave Colorado a 19-6 lead early in the first half.

Bjorklund scored five straight Colorado points to help the Buffs take a 34-19 lead.

Idaho State countered with 11 straight points, including a pair of 3-pointers by Whitley, to cut the deficit to 34-30. Colorado pushed the lead back to 45-35 at halftime.
