Buffs Edged By No. 5 Wildcats

BOULDER - Megan Mahoney had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Nicole Ohlde added 17 points as No. 5 Kansas State beat Colorado 67-59 on Saturday night.
Mahoney was 10-for-14 from the field en route to her fourth straight double-double. Ohlde, who scored seven points in the final minute, also had 17 rebounds for Kansas State (27-2, 14-1 Big 12).
It was Kansas State's ninth straight victory. The Wildcats beat Colorado 61-36 on Jan. 11.
Tera Bjorklund had 24 points, 20 in the second half, and seven rebounds for Colorado (20-6, 10-5). Sabrina Scott had 14 points, including 2-of-5 on 3-pointers.
Kansas State broke it open seven minutes into the second half when Laurie Koehn hit two straight 3-pointers and Mahoney added a third to put the Wildcats ahead 42-33.
Colorado narrowed the lead to 56-53 on Veronica Johns-Richardson's 3-pointer with 3:44 remaining.
After Ohlde's driving layup made it 62-57, Bjorklund cut it to 62-59 with 41 seconds left. Ohlde responded with a 3-point play and hit two free throws with 14 seconds left.
The game was the final regular season contest at home for CU senior Linda Lappe, Sabrina Scott and Diana Spencer. The Buffs travel to Lincoln, Neb. for their final regular season game on Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. MST.
