WOMEN's TENNIS TRAVELS TO ITA REGIONAL

BOULDER ? The University of Colorado women's tennis team travels to the 2004 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa on Wednesday-Sunday, Oct. 20-24 at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The singles finalists and doubles champion from this event will earn spots in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, Nov. 4-7, at the University of Michigan.
The field consists of 25 schools competing (Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Boise State, BYU, Colorado State, Colorado, Denver, Iowa State, Kansas State, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, St. Louis, Southwest Missouri State, Tulsa, Air Force, Utah State, Utah, Wichita State, Wyoming).
Play begins at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, with the qualifying draw in action. The main draw will begin Thursday, Oct. 21, at 9 a.m. Start times for Friday and Saturday are at 9 a.m. Sunday's start time is TBA.
The Buffaloes are led by senior Kendra Strandemo and a pair of freshmen in Lynzee Kever and Gleisy Torres Torres. Strandemo has won her last five in a row, including three straight at the United States Air Force Invitational in which she won the Flight 2 singles title; Kever, ranked No. 67th nationally has won her last three in a row, including the USAFA Invite Flight 1 singles title; and Torres Torres has won her last five straight, including three over regional opponents.
In doubles, Strandemo teams with junior teammate Jessica Vanderdys with a 4-2 record this fall, including the Air Force Invite in which the CU duo won the Flight 1 crown.
