CU WINS SEVEN TITLES AT JACK CHRISTENSEN INVITE

FT COLLINS, Colo. - The University of Colorado track & field team raced to seven titles in action today at the Jack Christensen Invitational here Saturday afternoon at Colorado State University.

It was a great day for CU's women jumpers, as the Buffs leaped to two different titles. Junior Anna Magle had a solid effort in women's high jump action, jumping a personal and CU season best 5-8 (1.73m). That mark is a regional qualifying mark for Magle, and ties her for seventh on the Big 12 Conference Performance List. Then it was junior Liza Negriff, who leaped 39-03.25 in the triple jump to get a win in that event. CU's other female winner was sophomore Hannah Warfield-Ruffato in the javelin, throwing 140-11, also a regional qualifying mark.

Leading the way for the Buffalo women on the track was junior Sara Slattery, making her return to the collegiate track for the first time since the NCAA Championships last June. Slattery, (nee Gorton), took first in the women's 1,500 meter run in a time of 4:40.97. It marks her first race since the 5,000 meter finals at the 2003 NCAA Championships, where she took third in a loaded field.

In men's action, sophomore Sam Napp won the men's 100 meter dash in a time of 10.82, CU's second-fastest time of the season. The men's 4x100 meter relay team won their event in 41.17, a season best for the Buffalo men.

The throwers did their part on the men's side, with Andy Passen winning the men's shot put with his heave of 56-04.75. That mark is a personal best for Passen, who qualified for NCAA regionals with the toss.

Colorado will next travel to Norman, Okla., for the Eighth Annual Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which get underway on Thursday, April 29.
