LOS ANGELES, Calif. ? Sophomore Lynzee Kever and two doubles teams earning a single point were the lone bright spots for the University of Colorado women's tennis team in its lone trip to the west coast this season, falling to unranked Loyola Marymount, 5-2, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The Buffaloes fall to 7-6, while the Lions improve to 6-10 in a match between the two schools for the first time since 1991. LMU leads the series 2-0.
Kever won at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 for her second straight win improving to 11-9 for the season. The sophomore from Edmond, Okla. was also victorious at the No. 3 doubles slot with junior teammate Jenny Hanson taking an 8-6 winner. Kever and Hanson won their fourth straight and improved to 12-6 for the year with eight of those wins coming in the dual season.
CU clinched the doubles portion at the No. 1 slot behind its No. 51 nationally ranked tandem of Kendra Strandemo and Jessica Vanderdys with an easy 8-2 triumph. Strandemo/Vanderdys won their 10th match of the year and improve to 4-1 in the spring.
The Buffaloes travel to the state of Texas for a pair of Big 12 Conference matches against nationally ranked opponents. CU takes on No. 38 Texas A&M (March 25) and No. 13 Texas (March 26).
