
Women's Tennis Falls Short, 4-3 to No. 21 BYU

BOULDER ? In their first meeting since 1989, No. 21 Brigham Young University held on for 4-3 victory over No. 55 Colorado, Friday night at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House. The win improves the Cougars to 4-0, while the loss was the first of the season for the Buffaloes, placing them at 2-1. The Cougars remain perfect over the Buffaloes in the all-time series, 19-0.
The Buffaloes trailed early in the match losing the doubles point, then fell in three of the next four singles slots.
Picking up wins for CU were all freshmen, Monica Milewski, Ewa Losinski, and Franziska Jendrian.
Milewski, ranked No. 56 nationally won her third straight match and improved her overall record to 12-3 with a 6-4, 6-0 winner over No. 95 Lauren Jones.
CU secured other singles points at No. 4 as Losinski edged BYU's Sofia Holden in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5). The victory was Losinksi's third win in a row, while Jendrian, CU's Athlete of the Week award winner, remained unbeaten at No. 6 taking a 6-0, 7-5 winner over Rana El Derwy.
Colorado continues their home stand against No. 37 Alabama, Sunday (Jan. 29) at the Harvest House beginning at 9 a.m.
