Women's Golf Still in 12th at Price's Give Em Five

LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? The University of Colorado women's golf team improved by four strokes in second round action here Tuesday, but remain in 12th place with one round to play at the New Mexico State University Price's Give ?Em Five Intercollegiate.

Colorado shot 313 in first round action on Monday, and came back with a second round 309 on day two, but it was not enough to get them back in the hunt. Missouri leads the tournament with a 594 total, while Colorado is 28 strokes back at 622.

“We need a few people to step up and shoot an even par round and we're not getting it this week,” said CU head coach Anne Kelly. “I'm disappointed with our score and with how we are doing in the tournament. I have higher expectations for the team and I know we're better than how we are playing. We are capable of much better. The good news is we have one more round to come out tomorrow and go from there.”

Freshman Dominique Pytlewski still leads the Buffs in the individual standings after shooting a 78 today. She opened with a 42 on the front but bounced back with an even par 36 on the back nine. She is in a tie for 31st place after two rounds with a total of 153.

“Domi struggled on the front but she really made a great comeback on the back nine today,” said Kelly. “Yesterday it was the other way around, so we know she's capable of scoring well on both sides of the course and I know she wants to put together a complete round tomorrow.”

Fellow freshman Christine Kim had CU's best round of the day with a four-over par 76 and is in 44th place with her score of 155. Senior Hannah Hoch had the best first-to-second round improvement for Colorado, rebounding from an 84 on Monday to shoot 77 today. She sits in 67th place in the individual standings.

“Christine had a much better day of putting and really showed improvement,” said Kelly. “She had a double bogey towards the end of the round that really hurt her. Hannah also battled back and hopefully will be able to shave some more strokes off her score tomorrow morning.”

Lindsay Koth shot 78 and has CU's third-best total with a 158 after two rounds, and is currently tied for 59th place. Junior Lindsay Senger shot 81 and has a two day total of 160, good for 65th place.

The final round of the New Mexico State University Price's Give ?Em Five Intercollegiate will tee off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
