Women's Golf 17th at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif.?The University of Colorado women's golf team teed off their first tournament of the spring here Tuesday afternoon with a 17th place finish in the Fresno State Kitihara Invitational here at the Copper River Country Club.
UC Irvine won the tournament with a first round score of 285-286-571, while the Buffaloes improved 10 shots to 308 today after a 318 first round, putting up a final score of 626. UC Irvine's Selanee Henderson took home medalist honors with a two day effort of 67-70-137.
CU's top finisher from Monday's first round, junior Hannah Hoch, again got off to solid start and was three-under through the first 12 holes before getting ill. She finished the day with
“Hannah was really playing well today, and then the flu showed up,” said head coach Anne Kelly. “She was three under par until she got to the 13th hole, and then the same stuff that (Lindsay) Caljouw has struggled with hit her hard and it was too much to get through at the same level.”
Hoch was followed in the standings by senior Maria Persson-Gulda, who posted a five-over par 77 on the day for the second straight round, good for a tie for 53rd place and a score of 154.
Sophomore Lindsay Senger improved seven strokes from Monday to today's round, moving from 85 to 77, also jumping seven spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 86th. She and junior Lindsay Koth posted an identical 85-77-163 tournament score and also tied for 86th in the standings.
“Senger and Koth had better days today than yesterday,” said Kelly. “They showed some improvement which shows promise of that we are getting rid of some of the rust off from winter break.”
Sophomore Charlotte Persson-Gulda had a more difficult day, shooting 85 to finish with a score of 166 for the tournament and a tie for 90th place.
The Buffs are back in action March 13-15 at the Las Vegas Founders Showdown.
