        BOULDER Aija Putnina scored a career-high 20 points and Jackie McFarland had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead No. 25 Colorado to a 91-64 victory over Jacksonville State on Sunday at the Coors Events Center.

 

        In all four players scored in double-digits as the Buffaloes, 10-2 overall,  had their best offensive production of the season in securing their ninth-straight win. The 91 points are the most since the Buffs defeated Northern Colorado 92-65 on Feb. 13, 2006. CU's win streak is its best since a similar 9-game run in 2003-04.

 

        Susie Powers tied a career high with 12 points and had a personal best nine rebounds. Bianca Smith pitched in 10. Brittany Spears had nine points, five rebounds, a career-best five blocks and four assists.

 

        CU shot a season-high 56 percent led by Putnina who was 8-of-9 from the field including 4-of-4 from 3-point range. She also grabbed seven rebounds and had two blocked shots. 

 

        Jacksonville State (5-8) stayed close in the first half, leading by as much as six early in the game. The Buffaloes took their first lead at 11-10 and held a 21-20 advantage with 9:39 remaining in the period when the shots really began to fall. Colorado was a perfect 9-of-9 from the field over next 6:42 to build a 45-31 lead.

 

        Colorado never looked back and led by as much as 30 in the second half.

 

        Jacksonville State was led by Cassi Stuart who had 15 points and five rebounds. Jolie Efezokhae had 12 points and Danielle Beneby had 11.

 

        Colorado will ring in the new year by hosting Pepperdine in its final nonconference game on Friday, Jan. 4, at 5:30 p.m. at the Coors Events Center. The game is part of a women's-men's doubleheader as the CU men host SMU at 8 p.m.
