Ames, Iowa? The University of Colorado ran nine members at the 2007 Iowa State Classic at the Lied Recreation Athletic Facility in Ames, Iowa on Saturday. Ryan Campbell took advanced through three rounds of the 60-meter dash to place fifth in the finals with a time of 6.82 seconds.
Campbell ran the 60-meter dash in the prelims with a time of 6.88, good for fifth, to advance past the field of 99 runners to the semi-final round of 24. In the semi-finals Campbell ran a 6.81, his fastest time of the day and good for third and a spot in the finals. In the finals, Campbell ran a 6.82 to finish fifth, behind the University of Wisconsin's Demi Omole who ran a national qualifying time of 6.70 in the finals. With his performance on Saturday, Campbell became the fifth fastest runner in CU history in the event.
The Colorado men also competed in the 400-meter and 800-meter events. In the 400m, George Pincock placed 34th with a time of 48.59, to top teammate Trae Pflueger who finished with a time of 51.95. In the 800m Wil Buchanan finished 20th with a time of 1:52.17.
Sara Price led the CU women Saturday when she finished the 600-meter with a time of 1:30.22, good for a 22nd place finish. Veronica Maul led three Buffs in the 400-meter when she recorded a time of 58.37. The Colorado women's 4x400-meter relay team finished in 26th place with a time of 3:57.15.
The Buffs will be back in action on Friday Feb. 23 when they return to Ames, Iowa to compete in the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships.
