Jendrian Advances to Central Region Main Draw

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah ? University of Colorado senior Franziska Jendrian won a pair of singles matches advancing to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region main draw, Wednesday at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
Jendrian, seeded eighth in the qualifying Round of 64 field, defeated Utah's Dee Dee Nelson 6-0, 6-0 in her morning match, then defeated Nebraska's Maria Ring 6-4, 6-2 later in the day.
Jendrian is one of 16 singles players who qualify for the main singles draw beginning Thursday morning.
She is also one of four CU student-athletes competing at the regional joining senior Monica Milewski and juniors Camila Belassi and Melisa Esposito.
The University of Utah is the host to the ITA Central Region Championships beginning Wednesday through Sunday.
The pair of victories by Jendrian improves her fall record to an impressive 8-1, including eight consecutive wins. The four-year standout from Rodleban, Germany has now won 68 career singles matches and moves into 18th place on the school's all-time singles list.
The singles and doubles winners from the ITA Central Regional along with the singles finalist will advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships next month at the University of Virginia, Nov. 6-9. Winners and finalists from the various ITA Regional Championships around the country, plus at-large selections, will make up the singles field of 32 and the 16-team doubles draw.
The Central Regional showcases players from Air Force, Arkansas, Boise State, BYU, Colorado State, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Montana State, Nebraska, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, St. Louis, Tulsa, Utah, Utah State, Weber State, Wichita State and Wyoming.
