Women's Golf Takes 14th In Final Fall Event

Boulder Creek, Nev. - The University of Colorado women's golf team stayed put in a tie for 14th place in its final tournament of the fall season here Wednesday, after shooting a 309 in the third round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
Arizona won the event with a combined tournament score of 878, despite carding a tournament-high 299 in the final cycle of play. Arizona was followed by Florida (883), Louisville (886), UC Davis (889) and Arkansas (896).
Senior Christine Kim was CU's top finisher in the tournament and turned in a 70-75-80-225 three-day scorecard. Kim took 22nd place individually, which marked her second top-25 finish of the season.
Sophomore Emily Talley carded a 4-over 76 on the final day and her three-round total of 228 put her in a tie for 36th individually.
Senior Julie Kim emerged as CU's strongest golfer in the final round of play after carding a team-low 73 in the third round. Kim played 11 holes to par and was 1-under with two holes remaining before a pair of bogeys landed her at 1-over on the day. Kim finished in a tie for 43rd overall.
Senior Dominique Pytlewski and junior Stephanie Simich rounded out the scoring for the Buffs, individually taking 69th and 80th, respectively.
Sherlyn Popelka of Arizona shot the best individual score out of the tournament's 93 golfers, with a combined score of 209 (7-under).
The Buffs will now break for the semester before returning to the course on February 8-10 when they re-commence play in the Northrop Grumman Regional in Palos Verdes, Calif.
