CU Seniors Set to Square Off in Singles Finals

BOULDER - University of Colorado senior Monica Milewski advanced to the finals after defeating a fellow Buff, junior Abbie Probert in the Gold Singles Draw in day two of the CU Invitational.
Day two action of the CU Invitational was held at the South Campus Courts. CU is hosting, Air Force, Arkansas, Colorado State, and Louisiana-Lafayette. Sunday is the final day of the competition with rounds beginning at 9 a.m.
Milewski defeated Probert in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 and is scheduled to play CU senior Melisa Esposito in Sunday's finals.
During the quarterfinals of the Gold Singles Draw, Anouk Tigu of Arkansas defeated CU senior Camila Belassi. Also in the quarterfinals, CU senior Melisa Esposito defeated Kate Lukomskaya (ARK), 6-3, 6-3. Anouk Tigu would later default against Esposito in the semifinals, allowing Esposito to advance to the finals, where she will play Milewski on Sunday .
In the Gold Singles Consolation Draw, Colorado sophomore Ania Anuszkiewicz won in a hard fought match against Tori Arneson of CSU, 2-6, 6-4, (8).
In the Black Singles Pool Play, CU had seven members earn victories. Michala Jensen, Allie Wahba, and Erin Sanders each won two matches.
In Jensen's first match, she defeated Lindsey Mueller (AFA) 6-1, 6-1 and in her second match, she defeated Adriana Nieto of Arkansas, 6-2, 6-1. Wahba defeated Lindsey Gray of Arkansas 6-0, 6-3 in her first match, and Erlyn Rudico (AFA) 6-2, 6-2.
Sanders notched a win against Lindsey Mueller (AFA) 6-2, 6-0 and also defeated Lindsey Gray of Arkansas 6-2, 6-1. CU sophomore Madie Kern earned a victory over Erin Conley (AFA) 6-3, 6-3.
In the quarterfinals of the Silver Doubles Draw, two CU teams advanced. Seniors Esposito/Belassi defeated Israel/Vasovic of Louisiana-Lafayette, 8-0. CU teammates Probert/Sanders defeated Lukomskaya/Sundaram (ARK) 8-5. The CU teams will play each other in the semifinals tomorrow.
During the Silver Doubles Consolation Draw, Allsion Wahba/Gray (CU/Ark) defeated Conley/Mueller from Air Force, 8-5.
