Colorado-Nebraska Notes

February 20, 2010 | Women's Basketball

Colorado has lost eight straight and 10 of its last 11. The Buffaloes 8-game skid is its longest since the 2004-05 season. Six of those eight losses have come against teams ranked in the Top 15.

Colorado has dropped 19 straight games to ranked teams and 16 straight to teams ranked in both the AP and WBCA Coaches polls.

No. 3 Nebraska is the highest ranked road opponent the Buffaloes have faced since a 78-67 loss at No. 3 Oklahoma on Jan. 2, 2002.

Nebraska wins its sixth straight game in Lincoln against Colorado and has won 10 of the last 11 overall meetings. CU still leads the overall series 39-28. Today's 68th game in the series makes this the most played in CU history.

Colorado's 73 points are a season-high in the Big 12. The Buffs have reached 70 points the last two games after being held to 64 or under the previous 10 league contests.

Colorado's 15 3-point field goals are its most ever on the road and just one off the single-game school record of 16 made against Buffalo on Jan. 3, 2004. CU's 15 3-pointers also set a Nebraska opponent record and a Bob Devaney Sports Center mark.

Junior Brittany Spears set a career high with six 3-point field goals made, doing so on just seven attempts. She moved past Jasmina Ilic (2003-07) for seventh place on CU's all-time list for 3-pointers made with 146 and past Amy Palmer (1992-96) for seventh in 3-point attempts with 435.

Spears has made 10 of her last 15 from downtown, spanning three games.

Spears had seven rebounds, moving into 10th place on CU's career rebounding list with 696. She needs four rebounds to become the sixth player in team history with 1,400 points and 700 rebounds. Spears also climbed into 13th in field goals made (525).

Senior Bianca Smith was 4-of-12 from downtown as she passed Shelley Sheetz (1991-95) for the most 3-point attempts in school history with 664 (Sheetz had 661).  Now with 245 career 3-pointers, Smith is now just seven from catching Sheetz for CU's all-time mark of 252. Smith has 70 3-pointers this season, fifth on CU's single-season list and 10 away from her own school record of 80 set in 2007-08.

Smith had a season-high seven rebounds.

Sophomore Alyssa Fressle tied a career-high with eight assists, a number she reaches for the fourth time and first this season.

Senior Courtney Dunn set a personal best with three 3-pointers. She was 3-of-4 from downtown, after making just 6-of-27 (.222) in the previous 11 Big 12 contests.
