Buffs Compete At CSU Invitational

BOULDER — The University of Colorado cross country teams sent a few athletes to a tune-up meet at the Colorado State Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo. on Friday night.
Both teams performed well. The women's team placed first in the Division I team standings with 32 points, while the men were second with 37 points.
Jenny DeSouchet led the women's team with a runner-up finish in 17:15 and Maddie Alm was third overall in 17:16. Annie Kelly was the third Buff across the line, finishing sixth overall in 17:24. Eryn Blakely placed 15th overall as CU's fourth harrier (18:09) and Mandy Ortiz placed 23rd (18:26) to round out CU's score. Olivia Rintala also ran in uniform for the Buffs and was 52nd in 19:59.
Ammar Moussa and Blake Theroux raced in their first meet of the season and led the men's team. Moussa placed second overall in 14:37 and Theroux was seventh in 14:56. Joe Holvey was the third scorer for CU, finishing 27th in 15:20. Panos Smyrnios was CU's fourth runner, finishing 40th overall (15:46), and David Emmert was 53rd as CU's No. 5 finisher (16:02).
The Buffs are back in action on October 4 and will host the Rocky Mountain Shootout at Buffalo Ranch on CU's South Campus.
