Cross Country Men and Women Advance to NCAA Championships

November 15, 2025 | Cross Country

BOULDER — The University of Colorado men's and women's cross country teams each secured bids to the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships following strong performances at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships on Friday in Salt Lake City.

The men's team will make its 55th appearance at the national meet and extend its streak to 33 consecutive NCAA Championships, the third longest active streak in the nation. Sophomore transfer Dominic Serem led the Buffs with a ninth-place finish at regionals. Colorado placed fourth overall despite racing without key contributor Isaiah Givens.

The Buffs were one of the most consistent teams in the country throughout the fall. Colorado placed third at the Gans Creek Invitational, second at the Nuttycombe Invitational, and third at the Big 12 Championship. After opening the season ranked thirteenth, CU surged to fifth after its performance at Gans Creek and carried a top six national ranking into championship season.

The women's team earned its 34 NCAA appearance, qualifying for the national meet for the 31st time in the last 33 seasons, missing only 2008 and 2024. Juniors Jessie Secor and Abbey Nechanicky, along with freshman Mia Larochelle, led the Buffs throughout the season and again at the regional meet.

Colorado delivered one of the most notable surprises of the season with a third-place finish at the Gans Creek Invitational, jumping sixteen spots in the national poll, the largest single week rise by any program this year. The Buffs followed with a twelfth place showing at Nuttycombe and a fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship to comfortably position themselves for a return to nationals.
