Men Ranked First, Women Second in Final Poll

November 16, 2015 | Cross Country

NEW ORLEANS – There were no changes in the final 2015 USTFCCCA Poll as the Colorado men stayed at the top and the women remained second overall.

The men have been the top-ranked team all season long and picked up 11 of 12 first place votes (359). The two-time defending NCAA Champions are looking to finish strong this weekend and if they finish where they are predicted, they will be just the fourth team in NCAA history to record three straight NCAA titles.

Second ranked Syracuse earned the other first place vote (346) and will be one of many teams looking to dethrone the Buffs. Stanford, the Pac-12 runner-up, is third this week (322) and Oklahoma State is ranked fourth (314). Michigan rounds out the top five (309).

The women's team is ranked second again this week behind New Mexico. The Buffs picked up two of the 12 first-place votes for 349 points, but NMU (358) recorded the other 10 for the top spot. CU upset the Lobos last weekend by one point (49-50) to win the NCAA Mountain Region Championship, but UNM did hold out two of its top seven harriers.

Behind the Buffs are Arkansas (327), Providence (318) and Oregon (313) in the top five.

The NCAA Championship is Saturday, Nov. 21, in Louisville, Ky.
