Nine Buffs Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO — The University of Colorado placed five student-athletes on the 2015 Pac-12 Cross Country All-Academic First and Second Teams, while another four earned honorable mention status.

Sophomores Kaitlyn Benner and Melanie Nun were each selected to the first team, while sophomore Lucy May, redshirt freshman Paul Miller and senior Morgan Pearson were tabbed second team selections.

Benner (Superior, Colo.) has recorded a 3.95 GPA while majoring in chemical engineering, while Nun (Broomfield, Colo.) has earned a 3.85 GPA and is an economics, mathematics and political science major.  

May (St. Louis, Mo.), Miller (Fort Collins, Colo.) and Pearson (Morristown, N.J.), the second team selections, also have outstanding GPAs. May has earned a 3.79 GPA while majoring in finance and Miller, an ecology and environmental biology and neuroscience major, has recorded a 3.70 GPA. Pearson, the 2015 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete award winner, is majoring in mathematics and economics and has a 3.45 GPA.

Three other Buffs were named to the honorable mention team. Maddie Alm (Louisville, Colo.) recorded her third academic honor and Erin Clark (Eugene, Ore.) received her second. Eryn Blakey (Monrovia, Calif.) and Christian Martin (Littleton, Colo.) earned their first selection this year.  

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete needs to have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor to the team.
