Buffs Pack 1-2 Punch in Latest USTFCCCA Poll

NEW ORLEANS – Colorado cross country continues to have a strangle hold on the top positions in the latest USTFCCCA Poll. The men remained at No. 1, while the women moved up one spot to second.   

The Buffs had a very impressive showing last week, sweeping the 2015 Pac-12 Championships for the second time in five years. The men won their fifth straight Pac-12 title, while the women won their second overall crown.

CU's men once again were named the unanimous No. 1 team in the rankings with 360 points. Syracuse stayed at second behind the Buffs with 345 points. BYU moved up from fourth to third in the latest poll (325) and Stanford (321) jumped up from 23rd to fourth after finishing second to CU at the Pac-12 Championship. Michigan rounded out the top five with 307 points.

The CU men are also first in the regional rankings ahead of third-ranked BYU, No. 11 UTEP, No. 21. Air Force and No. 25 Colorado State.

The women's team is ranked second this week behind New Mexico, the unanimous top-ranked team (360). The Buffs picked up 338 points, seven more than third-rated Arkansas. Oregon and Providence tied for fourth with 317 points.

The women are second in the regional rankings behind UNM. No. 20 Utah, No. 25 Weber State and No. 24 BYU round out the top five.

The NCAA Mountain Region Championships are November 13 in Albuquerque, N.M. The top two teams from each of the nine region championships automatically advance to the NCAA Championships, Nov. 21, in Louisville, Ky., while another 13 teams will be added as at-large bids.
