Steur Named All-Pac-12 Academic First Team

SAN FRANCISCO – For the first time in her collegiate tennis career, University of Colorado May 2015 graduate Julyette Steur was named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic first team, announced Wednesday by Commissioner Larry Scott.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Steur graduated from CU last month with a business degree (3.8 grade point average) was named all three years to the conference academic team (freshmen are not eligible). She made the second team at the end of the 2012-13 (sophomore) and 2013-14 (junior) seasons.
May 2015 graduate Ashley Tiefel also majored in business, was named as an honorable mention.
Steur is the second CU women's tennis student-athlete to be named Pac-12 Conference academic first team since Ania Anuszkiewicz made the inaugural squad in 2011-12.
Steur joins three Stanford student-athletes on the first team, along with one each from UCLA, USC, Washington, and Washington State.
Also released Wednesday was the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional rankings as the Buffaloes finished second in the mountain region behind Utah. CU recorded a 7-1 record in the region with its only loss to the then-No. 49 ranked Utes, 4-3 in the home season finale.
In the final player rankings, Steur was third in the region, followed by freshman Tina Bokhua at No. 4, and sophomore Nuria Ormeño Ruiz at No. 15. In doubles, Steur and Bokhua were ranked fourth.
